Welcome to MusicTech@UNCG

Thank you for visiting MusicTech@UNCG, the website of the Instructional Technology Consultant in the School of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. This site was designed first as a tool to communicate updates on the status of technology at UNCG to the faculty in the School of Music. Over time it has grown into a portfolio of my work both in technology and music. If you would like to contact me about this site, please use the form found under the “CONTACT” tab.

For new faculty who would like to inquire about my services as an ITC, please refer to my “Policies” page.

Thank you for your time.

New Tune a Week Project (NTWP)

I have decided to start a new personal project which I am calling the “New Tune a Week Project (NTWP). The project includes three major goals:

  • Increase knowledge of my current audio software and hardware
  • Create either a new composition or performance recording each week
  • Document the process to create new tutorials for this site and future courses

While I have been using my software for several versions, I have never delved into it’s depths, and after paying for so many upgrades, it’s about time I get my monies worth. Since this is a Friday, to start this project off I’m posting a tune I wrote a few years ago that I’ve recently updated.

Mellow Trance

Mellow Trance is a tune I put together a few years ago in a hotel room using samples from a music technology magazine while visiting my dad during a hospital staff.

Bush Signs Law Creating Copyright Czar | Threat Level from Wired.com

In one of my recent posts, I mentioned about the possible passage of law that creates the position of a “Copyright Czar.” Seems it passed and was signed into law by the President while everyone was focused on the economy. It will be interesting to see how this effects the now non-existent claim of Fair Use, especially in an academic situation.
